Overview

 

Gulf South Pipeline Company, LP (“Gulf South”) is a “web-like” interstate natural gas pipeline system that gathers gas from basins between Texas and Alabama and delivers it to on-system markets within its footprint and to off-system markets in the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast through interconnections with third-party pipelines. Gulf South is located along the  Gulf Coast in the states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.   Gulf South also owns and operates salt-dome and reservoir natural gas storage facilities in Mississippi and Louisiana.

 

Gulf South is headquartered in Houston, Texas, with operational offices in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.

Pipeline and Storage Facilities

 

 The Gulf South system is composed of:

 

  • Approximately 7,390 miles of pipeline having an average daily throughput of approximately 2.8 billion cubic feet (Bcf) per day in 2015;

     

  • Eight high deliverability salt-dome natural gas storage caverns in Mississippi, having approximately 46.0 Bcf of total storage capacity, of which approximately 29.6 Bcf is designated as working gas capacity, and owns undeveloped land which is suitable for up to five additional storage caverns.

 

  • Two natural-gas storage fields located in Bistineau, Louisiana and Jackson, Mississippi, which have approximately 83.5 Bcf of working gas storage capacity.

 

 Markets Served

 

The markets directly served by the Gulf South system are generally located in eastern Texas, Louisiana, southern Mississippi, southern Alabama, and the Florida panhandle.  These markets include:

  

  • LDC and municipalities located across our system including New Orleans, Louisiana; Jackson, Mississippi; Mobile, Alabama; and Pensacola, Florida  

     

  • Industrial end-users located across the system, including the Baton Rouge to New Orleans industrial corridor and Lake Charles, Louisiana.

     
 

Gulf South also has indirect access to off-system markets through numerous interconnections with unaffiliated interstate and intrastate pipelines and storage facilities. These pipeline interconnections provide access to markets throughout the northeastern and southeastern U.S.

 

 Gas Supply

 

 The principal sources of supply for Gulf South are:

 

  • Unconventional shale plays including the Haynesville Shale and the Barnett Shale

     

  • Regional supply hubs and market centers: offshore Louisiana; Perryville, LA; Henry Hub, LA; Agua Dulce, TX; and Carthage, TX;

     

  • Conventional wellhead supplies: East Texas, northern and southern Louisiana and Mississippi; and

     

  • Imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) through the Lake Charles, Louisiana LNG terminal.

Gulf South is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Boardwalk Pipeline Partners, LP (NYSE: BWP), a midstream master limited partnership that provides transportation, storage, gathering and processing of natural gas and liquids for its customers.
